The pointed toe is the oldest trick in footwear for a reason. It draws the eye along the foot and keeps going. Mollini cuts the shape with room where it counts, in leather, suede and patent across the heels collection, in black, nude and bone.
The difference between a pointed heel you keep and one you abandon is where the taper starts. Cut properly, the widest part of the shoe still sits under the ball of the foot and the point extends past the toes into empty space. Cut badly, the shoe narrows early and presses the smaller toes together within an hour. Material decides how forgiving it is. Soft leather and suede ease across the forefoot in the first few wears and settle there. Patent holds exactly the shape it was made in, which is the look, but it means sizing up is the safer call if you are between. A black pointed heel is the sharpest thing most wardrobes own. Under tailoring the line is severe in the best way. In suede the same silhouette turns warm enough for evening, and in patent it catches light across a room. The shape travels well beyond the classic court. High heels with a point stretch the line further still, while slingback heels open the back and keep the sharpness with none of the enclosure, which is the version most people reach for once the weather turns. A: Not inherently. Problems come from a toe box that tapers before the toes rather than after them. A well-cut point extends past the foot and leaves the toes in their natural position, so a correct width through the ball of the foot matters more than the shape of the tip. A: Usually only in rigid materials such as patent. Leather and suede give across the forefoot with wear, so your usual size is generally right. If the shoe presses at the widest part of the foot in store, it will not stretch enough to fix it. A: A pointed toe tapers to a defined point that extends beyond the foot. An almond toe curves to a soft rounded tip and sits closer to the natural shape of the foot, making it the gentler option for wider feet. A: Black is the most flexible starting point for most wardrobes, since it carries across work, formal and evening dressing. Nude is the usual second pair, as it extends the leg line under dresses and skirts.A point that extends the foot, not the pressure
